दूर मनो-यात
वादळला हा जीवनसागर अवसेची रात
पाण्यावर गडबडा लोळतो रुसलेला वात
भांबावुनि अभ्रांच्या गर्दित गुदमरल्या तारा
सूडाने तडतडा फाडतो उभे शीड वारा
पिंजुनि आयाळ गर्जती लाटा भवताली
प्रचंड भिंगापरि फुटते जळ आदळूनी खाली
प्रवासास गलबते आपली अशा काळराती
वावटळीतिल पिसांप्रमाणे हेलावत जाती
परंतु अंधारात चकाके बघा बंदरात
स्तंभावरचा प्रकाश हिरवा तेजस्वी शांत
किरणांचा उघडून पिसारा देवदूत कोणी
काळोखावर खोदित बसला तेजाची लेणी
उज्ज्वल त्याची पहा प्रभावळ दूर मनो-यात
अन् लावा हृदयात सख्यांनो आशेची वात

It is the moonless night out
Stormed is the sea of life
The dejected wind rolls about
On the waters, with strife
Crushed by the clouds
The stars are breathless
The wind, mad with revenge,
Shreds the sail to pieces.
The waves roar all around
With manes dishevelled
The splashes of water
Are like the huge lenses splintered
In the hour of such a bleak night,
Our vessels on travel
Are like spinning feathers
Caught in the mighty whirl
But look at the cool green glow
Of the light in the tower
Which stands firmly
In the distant harbor
The glow is like an angel
With the wings of beams
Who carves on the darkness
The sculptures of gleams
In that far-off tower,
Watch his bright mantle.
And friends, light at your hearts,
The wicks of hope gentle.
